11 years ago this month, I moved to Canada, and today I’m starting all over again with nothing after building Ogeajibe clothing for the last 10 years.

Today is a such a crazy day for me. After living with my dear friend for almost 10 years. I finally got the courage to move out my own. My rent doubled,and so did my space. I was so excited, endless possibilties finally being able to have my full workspace in my second bedroom. Yesterday i received heartbreaking news, there was a fire in my apartment building. Thankfully no one was seriously injured, and firefighters were able to respond quicky.

I was hopeful that some of things would be salvageble. Yesterday , i was finally able to enter my unit to see the damage. I cant even put into words my despair right now. The fire was directly above my unit, the ceiling caved above my workspace and unfortunately asbestos was used in the building so all my items can’t be used and every other part of my house was soaked with water.

I moved into my this apartment May 2 and now on May 9th i'm homeless. I only spent 48 full hours at my place, and now I only have the clothes on my back on the things i went to work with.

I was so excited for this chapter in my life, and now im facing the most difficult set back i've experienced. My internet router, only arrived May 6 and with the chaos of moving and unpacking I made a great oversight not obtaining my tenant insurance in time

To say i'm devasted would be an understatement. I'm broken and questioning ever decision that led me to this place.

I'm grateful i wasnt in the unit when the fire broke out, and that I have my health. But i have to start over with nothing. I'd like to say thank you to the Emergency Social Services (ESS) in Bc for the support services i've received so far.

Theres a long road ahead for me, and i'm leaning in to my community because no where else to turn. I know times are hard for everyone, but if you could support me in way, shape or form i would greatly appreciate it. I literally cannot recove anything from my place, what's not covered in

I'm hoping to raise $10,000, but anything helps..

I'mMost of that will towards replacing my equipment (sewing machine serger, cutting table, scissors, thread, patterns, my laptop, other work electronics and inventory etc). The remainder will go towards replacing my personal belongings, my bed, mattress, couch, tv clothes, accessories,.

I have no access to any of my things, and i really dont know where im going to start. Even just words of encouragement and prayers would go a long way. Thanks.
