Hi, my name is Liv (Odies human mum) im 19 and i’d like to start this off by giving some context into Odies life, starting from the beginning.
First let’s talk about how we got Odie. When we got Odie he had a deformity in his leg, affecting the way he walked, causing him to walk almost on his elbow, sadly the breeder we got Odie from didn’t have the time to give him the TLC he needed to get better, so either we took him for free or he would have been put to sleep, that was his first time avoiding passing.
At first, the vets told us he may need surgery’s to fix his leg or that there were slight chances it would heal on its own when he grew up, so to keep an eye on him and keep him well looked after! Luckily the deformity healed on its own, however Odie still walks slightly odd on the leg but atleast it’s up to a stage of being classed as healthy. Now let’s talk briefly about how he grew up before we get onto the main reason for this gofundme.
Odie grew up to be a brilliant boy, an affectionate, crazy boy who loves cuddles, cats, snacks and a good old tennis ball. He’s shy at times but he loves people and getting any attention he can get whether that be from humans or other animals! We love him for all of these things but mainly for how lucky we got with such a sweet boy..
Finally.. let’s get onto the reason i’ve started this. Unfortunately Odie has took a bad turn, as of lately Odie hasn’t been his crazy, cuddly, loud “attention seeking” self. It started as a limp with a hunched back that we summed up to be his leg playing up (as it does this from time to time) but sadly he started yelping and crying, he couldn’t lay properly without being in pain. I took him to the vet’s on a Saturday night at midnight after he was yelping after moving position. The vet told us Odie had a Grade 1 slipped disc and prescribed medication to hopefully help him heal, he was put on crate rest and banned from all his favourite things (walks, playing, running in the garden). After this we were told to take him back to the vets in a week for a checkup to see how his meds were working but sadly there was no change, he was still in pain and the vets then said it was a spinal injury.. the vets advised an MRI to see what was wrong with him but sadly this is not something i am in a position to provide for him.. so our other option is more meds or to get him out to sleep, so i am hoping i may be able to raise the money to help my boy. If we are unable to reach the goal, i will put this towards cremating him to remember him by.. I’ve never been one to ask for handouts and i’ve always hated asking to borrow anything, but this is my baby. Odie has been by my side for the last four years, hes my little therapy dog, he’s licked every tear i have cried since i got him and i simply can’t bare to lose him so young. I thank you in advance, even if you have just read his story. Thank you, kind regards Liv x
