Help Oday, Ghadeer and Majd survive in Gaza

Donation protected
This fundraiser isto support Oday Eslam Alwshahe and his small family in Gaza (Oday, his wife Ghadeer Alwshahe, 29, their firstborn son, Majd Alwshahe, who turned 3 on April 25th 2024), and their new baby, Obaida Alwshahe who was born on 4 January 2025.

Having lost their home, and been displaced several times, the family are now in Deir-el-Balah. Difficult weather is making their basic tent uninhabitable and further increasing risks of disease, and threats to the children's health, especially the new baby - and to Ghadeer after childbirth.

The attacks on Gaza continue, and the family are at grave risk of attack or starvation. Insufficient aid has reached everyone suffering in Gaza due to Israeli blockades, starvation is rife, and the cost of food and daily expenses is very high.

Here are the family together when they were in Rafah:

The family's history

Oday spent many years working in digital marketing in order to purchase a small flat as his family's home in this apartment block. This home was completely destroyed during an Israeli air strike on 12 October.

Oday, Ghadeer and Majd (aged 2 at the time) had evacuated the apartment block just hours before it was targeted with internationally banned phosphorus bombs. The family had never imagined that they would spend that night away from their home - let alone the horrors that followed - so they took none of their precious possessions with them.

Their beloved home was destroyed just a few hours after they left the building The family of three have no source of income, as Oday can no longer work - all of his work materials were destroyed in the bombing.

Furthermore, Oday has lost many friends, and his beloved father, Eslam Saleem Alwshahe, during the war. His father tragically died of cancer because it was not possible to access medical treatment due to the war. Eslam Alwshahe died on 10 December 2023 in a tent in Mawasi Khan Younis.

Last year, Oday also lost his little brother Obaida, who was aged just 16, when an airstrike targeted the house on whose roof Obaida and his mother and sisters had placed their tent. Oday and Ghadeer's son takes Obaida's name in his memory.

HOW WILL THESE FUNDS BE USED?

Funds raised here will go towards the cost of basic necessities such as food, water and shelter. And to access medical care as required, especially for the new baby. Here are some examples of what the family have been able to buy thanks to your donations - and you can see more in the regular updates.

This fundraiser is administered via Oday's trusted friend, Pippa Best, in the UK. This is because Go Fund Me is not able to make direct payments to Palestine. Donations instead must go via a UK bank account, from which they are then transferred directly to Oday in Gaza.
