On October 21st, a sudden tragedy happened that leaves me in shock and confusion! I heard Oceana yelping at the top of her lungs, and I ran to her- what happened? As she cried, I cried and searched all over her body to find any injuries. I could not find anything wrong, and my anxiety kicked in; why was she screaming so loud? In a panic, I ran to start my car, still in my pajamas and no shoes on- I then put a collar and leash on Oceana and noticed her right paw was curled up. When she went to take a step, she fell and screamed again. Nothing was under her paw, yet she kept trying to get up and continued to fall. It was so heartbreaking to watch! When I finally got her in the car, I called her Vet and described the symptoms, and they said it was not an emergency and to make an appointment for the following day. I did, but I also called several other vets that told me the same thing-
That night she wanted to sleep outside, so River and I slept next to her. She cried and looked so baffled. The next morning, I took her to her appointment, and due to COVID, I had to drop her off ☹ and leave her without me. They kept her from 10am until 5pm. I kept calling to check up on her- that day was the longest day of my life! When I received the news, I dropped to the floor and cried like a baby!! Oceana is diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease of C5-C6. Precisely the same diagnosis that I have- what are the odds?
Intervertebral disc can rupture and can cause total paralysis! It affected her spinal cord, and all four legs/ I thought it was just her right paw? The x-ray confirmed that it is severe, and she needs an immediate MRI and blood work! Furthermore, she will need surgery and then physical therapy. The cost is immense, especially since I do not have insurance. I am humbly requesting HELP! I WILL TRY HOLISTIC THERAPIES AND WATER THERAPY- ANYTHING TO HELP MY LITTLE GIRL WALK AGAIN! The sudden going from running and walking to complete stillness is a shock to her and all of us…She must have had disc degeneration before I adopted her-
OCEANA loves to go for long walks and chase gophers. She is a sweet girl that gives everyone she meets a big kiss! She is sassy and friendly and my snuggle bunny. I want to help her; please help me save her from being paralyzed. Please help us.
