Help OC Mallards Compete and Advocate

A new local senior “A” ice hockey team, the Orange County Mallards, has taken on a mission that goes beyond the rink: advocating for mental health awareness. Recognizing that even in a sport celebrated for its toughness, mental well-being is a critical component of overall health, the team dedicates time each season to education and dialogue. Team Captain, Tyler Maxwell, a long-time hockey professional and mental health advocate himself, shared that they hope to show fellow players and community members that "prioritizing mental health isn't a weakness—it's a strength". The players are encouraged to share their stories and check in with one another, fostering a supportive environment where it's okay to not be okay. The team has hosted an annual "Hockey Talks" game night where they partner with local mental health organizations to provide resources and break down lingering stigmas. Through their efforts, the OC Mallards demonstrate that while physical fitness is important, a supportive team environment and open communication are equally crucial for everyone's well-being. We are creating this GoFundMe to secure the vital funds needed to give this team the chance to compete in the Mountain Hockey League. Every donation brings us closer to making this dream a reality. The money raised will be dedicated exclusively to ice rentals, covering the costs of on-ice officials, gear, league fees, and accommodating travel/accommodation expenses for the team. We are incredibly grateful for any support you can provide!
