Beloved siblings Lacy and Obie are struggling with hyperthyroidism. A recent vet visit revealed that the medicine that has been keeping them alive is now killing them - their bodies are no longer able to tolerate it. Their prognosis is bleak — unless they receive a lifesaving treatment called Radioactive Iodine Therapy.
The good news is that this is a safe and effective procedure that destroys overactive portions of the thyroid gland, requires no anesthesia or daily medication, and does not damage health tissue or organs. Within a month after treatment, their thyroid function will most likely return to normal and they can enjoy a good quality of life.
Estimates for this treatment are $2,275 per cat, which means Lacy and Obie need $4550.
As a rescuer who has dedicated my life to saving literally hundreds of animals in my community, I have always covered all medical costs from my own pocket. But because the pandemic has hit people and animals particularly hard, my expenses for rescue have gone through the roof, tapping out my savings. I find myself caught short and humbled to ask for help to save my own cherished pets. They mean the world to me and I am fighting for their lives. They need this treatment urgently. I would be so grateful for your support, in any amount.
Below is the estimate from the vet. I'd be happy to provide any medical records upon request.
