Help Obi Find Peace at Home

Our 17-year-old family dog, Obi, is nearing the end of his journey with us. His body is slowing down — he’s losing mobility and struggles to stand when eating or drinking, yet his spirit remains strong and loyal. He still wants to be by our side, just as he has been through every chapter of our lives.

Watching him fall or lose his footing breaks our hearts. We know the time is coming when we’ll have to make the painful but loving decision to help him pass peacefully. Our greatest wish is to let Obi cross the rainbow bridge in the comfort and safety of his home, surrounded by the people who have loved him his entire life.

The cost for an at-home euthanasia service is $800, which allows him to pass where he feels most secure — in his bed, in his space, with us holding him. If we cannot do that, our backup plan is the humane society, where the cost is $300, but that means we would have to hand him over and trust that others will give him the compassion he deserves.

We are doing our best to make Obi’s final days as comfortable and full of love as possible, but the cold weather is making it harder on him each day. Any donation, big or small, will help us give Obi the peaceful and dignified goodbye he deserves.
