My name is Beri, and I am writing this with a heavy heart as a loving aunt to my precious nephew, Obed Bakilam.

Obed’s life has been nothing short of a miracle from the very beginning. When he was born on October 24 2016, he was not breathing for the first two hours. Doctors declared him dead. Our family was shattered beyond words. But we held onto faith, prayed without ceasing, and believed in God’s power. By His grace, Obed started breathing again. From that very moment, we knew his life had a purpose, a testimony of hope and divine intervention.

But today, Obed is facing another battle, one that no child should ever have to endure.

On February 17th, 2023, his parents noticed that his right eye had become swollen. They rushed him to see an ophthalmologist, but they were told nothing was wrong. As the months passed, the swelling grew worse. Again and again, they sought help, but no answers came. Meanwhile, Obed began to struggle with his vision, which was affected, making it hard for him to keep up in school. He became slower to respond, and heartbreakingly, he became a target of bullying. Watching a once joyful child lose his confidence has been devastating for all of us.

On November 20th, 2024, everything changed. His condition worsened, and his parents sought another opinion. This time, after multiple tests and scans at a general hospital, the truth was finally revealed that Obed has a tumor in his brain.

Since then, life has been a series of hospital visits, tests, and uncertainty. In the hope of healing, the family even tried alternative treatments after hearing testimonies from others, but sadly, nothing worked for Obed. Recent scans have shown that the tumor is slowly growing. Doctors have now confirmed that surgery is urgently needed to save his life.

As a family, we are heartbroken but we are not giving up. Obed is a fighter. He has already overcome death once, and we believe he can overcome this, too. But we cannot do this alone.
