Obdulio Rivas needs your help to keep his family together. By following the rules and applying to continue working in the U.S. six years ago, he has been identified as an immigrant for deportation by our current administration. He was recently notified his work permit was denied and must appear in court to determine if he can stay in the US or be deported.
For 19 years Obdulio has been a loving father, family member, and cherished community member. He has built a family with wife, Mirna, three children, 18 y.o. Eliel, 12 y.o. Gian and 1 y.o. Emir, and two elderly parents. He has worked hard to support his family, and has been an upstanding member of the community. Obdulio has built strong relationships, giving greatly to the community by volunteering and is generous with his knowledge and skills. Friends and community establishments have rallied in support to fight against this unfair and undeserved situation.
Concerns for his family:
Mirna fears for her husband and the detrimental effects deportation will have on their children, especially for 18 y.o. Eliel. Obdulio became Eliel’s father figure after his biological father was deported 16 years ago. Another father being forcibly deported could do irreparable harm to Eliel, as well as their two younger sons.
Due to the time sensitive nature of this situation, this unexpected cost is a struggle for a low income family to meet. This is why we are asking for the community’s help, as all required steps will be expensive. Due to legal status, Eliel will be handling the GoFund Me accounts. We hope your hearts will be touched and you will help support Obdulio and his family. Thank you so very much.
