Help Obaida Rebuild His Life and Support His Family

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Aaron Smith, and I’m reaching out to help a courageous young boy named Obaida. Obaida is just 15 years old, but he has already taken on the weight of the world to support his family in the face of unimaginable hardship. Living in a makeshift tent in the strip with his parents and seven younger siblings, including a 4-month-old baby, Obaida is determined to keep his family alive and together.

The devastation and displacement caused by the ongoing genocide have left his family without a home, food security, or even the basic necessities of life. Obaida's father went missing during their forced displacement, and for a terrifying time, this young boy become the sole provider for his family, spending his days queuing for bread, carrying heavy water containers, and fetching rations from soup kitchens. His father has since returned to him fortunately, but they continue to struggle for survival.

Despite the immense pain and exhaustion he endures, Obaida dreams of a brighter future for his family. He hopes to secure a proper tent to protect his family from the harsh weather, provide essential food and baby supplies, and eventually return to school to continue his education. Your support can make that dream a reality.

And in his own words:

My name is Obaida, a 15-year-old child living in a tent with 8 family members: my parents and 6 young siblings, including a 4-month-old nursing baby sister.

I am not in school learning right now because all of the schools in the enclave have been reduced to rubble. Instead, I have taken on the added responsibility, as the eldest male of my siblings, of helping my father to look after my family. The responsibilities that I have taken on are incredibly difficult, forcing me to grow up way beyond my years.

My father went missing when we were forcibly displaced to the south. Traumatized, I cried for him every night. By God's grace, he has finally returned to us safely, though worn out and exhausted from his difficult time of separation and the extreme effort it took for him to reunite with us.

I wake up every morning at sunrise and queue for bread, standing for hours. Then I return to our dilapidated tent that offers my family no protection from the cold and rainy weather. Thereafter, I walk approximately 2-3km to fill up large containers with water; they are very heavy to carry and have caused injuries to my shoulders and back. I have many blisters on the palms of my hands. Then, I head toward the soup kitchen and queue up to fetch what little ration of food I can to feed my mother and my brothers and sisters.

Please help lessen my family’s pain and suffering. We sleep every night: cold, hungry, sick, and extremely exhausted.

The money you kindly donate will go toward feeding me and my family, buying diapers and formula milk for my baby sister, and a tent with a protective tarpaulin cover. In addition to that, I hope you can help me buy books and a laptop so I can complete my education and improve our living conditions.

If you are unable to donate, please help us by sharing and publishing our fundraising campaign.

Thank you very much.

Summary:

Your generosity can help Obaida and his family survive these unimaginable circumstances. Every dollar donated will provide immediate relief and support Obaida's hope to build a better future for his family. Together, we can show this brave young boy that he and his family are not alone.

Thank you for your kindness and compassion. ❤️
