Help Oakley Run Again: Support His Surgery

Hi everyone.

I am hoping to raise money for my sweet dog, Oakley. I rescued Oakley back in 2021 from the New Hope Rescue group in Auburn, AL. He was found on the side of the road with 7 other puppies after being abandoned and left for dead. I saw his story through a group, and my roommate and I decided to foster him after seeing that he would be euthanized the next day. I took a chance on him, not knowing how much joy he would bring me for the next years to come. Having only been 6 months old when I had been introduced to him, he had already faced so much pain, and after meeting him, I knew I could not give him up to another family. I knew he was my forever dog. Oakley is my best friend, my protector, and my happiness.

This past May, I noticed he began to limp. Come to find out, he tore his back right ACL completely and needed to undergo TPLO surgery. I have pet insurance for him and was hoping this would be covered, but the insurance company decided that this injury was pre-existing due to a tumble he took as a puppy! I went through the appeal process, had our former vet write a letter stating they were not related, and the claim was still denied. I went ahead with the surgery anyway because he is young, and I want him to be able to run again and play and do all the things he loves! He had his procedure on July 22nd. The final cost was $4,387.64. I am on a payment plan through Care Credit, but even making monthly $400 payments is strenuous.

Oakley went for his 3-month post-op X-ray check-up this past week. He has now completely torn his LEFT ACL. I hate watching him in pain, but I know I cannot afford another $4,000 surgery.

I have decided to make this GoFundMe in hope that even the smallest donations can help me provide the surgery he needs to help him get better. He is only 3 1/2 years old and has so much life ahead of him where he can run and play and do all the things a dog should be able to do!
