Oakley, my 4-year-old Australian Shepherd, is truly the love of my life. She is more than just a pet; I am not me without her. On April 11th, Oakley suddenly started limping. I assumed it was from chasing a squirrel and soon had her at the vet to ensure she was okay. The initial assessment was just a soft tissue injury, but as her condition worsened throughout the week, I knew something was wrong. With a high fever spiking, she was hospitalized on Saturday, April 18th. After several vet visits, countless tests, and hospitalizations, all with no improvement or answers, we had to be transferred to an ICU specialist due to a 105.3F fever despite treatment. Every day without a diagnosis feels heavier. The medical costs have been overwhelming, but I can’t imagine not doing everything possible for her recovery.
Oakley has always been the bright spot in my life. She’s the one who greets me with joy, comforts me when I’m down, and fills every day with love. Seeing her struggle, unable to stand or move, and watching her go through so much pain has been heartbreaking. Despite all the tests, medications, and hospital stays, we’re still waiting for answers, hoping for a miracle. I would do anything for her, and I know many people understand what it’s like to have a soul dog—the kind of companion who is your everything.
The funds raised will cover Oakley’s hospital stay, ongoing hospitalization, all tests (x-rays, bloodwork, cultures, joint tap), medications, and any future tests she may need. Any additional support will go toward her ongoing care after we hopefully get a diagnosis. I know times are tough for many, and I don’t want anyone to feel obligated to donate if they’re facing their own challenges. I’ve done what I can financially, and any donation will help me continue to provide Oakley with every possibility for healing and answers. Oakley is so loved, and I am deeply grateful to anyone who shares her story, offers advice, or donates to her medical expenses.
