Hello, my name is Nylah Mercado-Adams. I am 14 years old, and I attend MacArthur Middle School in Berkeley, Illinois. I've always had a love for the game of basketball and enjoyed watching it, but I started late when I was 11 years old.
My grandmother noticed my form in shooting one day while I was at the park playing with my brother and said to me, "Nylah, you have good form, so why don't you try out for the basketball team at school?" A few months later, my grandmother approached my teammate's father, who had been coaching her from the bleachers, and realized he was doing a good job, so she asked if he could train me. Coach Baker and my mom encouraged and motivated me, which is why I have a deeper understanding and love for the game of basketball.
My grandmother, who I call "Mama," has been raising me, my twin brother, and my older sister since birth. I now play for Hoopademix, which is under the umbrella of Adidas.
