Greetings – I wanted to reach out to you to request your financial support for the USNA Women’s Club Lacrosse (NWCL) Team.
As members of the Academy and Military, the Midshipmen may not request donations or support, so this is an independent and private request for participation.
NWCL is currently an Extra Curricular Activity (ECA) at the Academy but is preparing to take the next step by applying for club status through the Naval Academy Athletic Association at the end of the semester. Last season, NWCL finished 2nd in the WCLO but was unable to compete in the National Championship due to ECA restrictions, which prevented them from missing exams and school. Achieving club status would eliminate this obstacle, allowing the team to compete at the highest level. This season, NWCL is poised for an even stronger performance. They have already made history by handing Loyola, the two-time reigning National Champions, their first-ever league loss and continue to dominate with decisive victories. This team is fueled by young talent, relentless dedication, and an unwavering passion for the sport. NWCL has thrived regardless of the setbacks they have faced for being an ECA. The players receive no excusals from mandatory events, must participate in company intramurals, have no access to athletic trainers, and often struggle with limited field availability as higher-priority teams take precedence during sports periods. Becoming a club team would provide them with the support and resources needed to compete at their full potential. To achieve club status, NWCL must raise its profile and showcase its talent at every opportunity. Every game is a chance to prove they belong among the Academy’s premier athletic programs.
Most games are within driving distance of the Yard, and our Mids are able to travel within the day to participate in the games. However, there are games that require overnight stays. We request your financial support to help cover the cost of hotel rooms, gas, and meals for their upcoming game(s) in Rochester, NY on April 6th. If you are able to contribute, we are grateful for any amount you are able to provide.
If we are able to collect funds in excess of the travel costs for the weekend, the excess will be used to organize meals, etc., for additional games this season and/or an end-of-season activity.
