Support Melda in Her Fight Against Multiple Myeloma
Our dear friend Melda is a devoted wife, a loving mother of two, including one very young child, and an oncology nurse who has spent her career caring for others during their most vulnerable moments.
Now she is facing her own battle.
Melda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma recently and has already endured months of chemotherapy and almost weekly transfusions. Despite the physical toll, she continued working full time in the infusion center as a nurse to maintain health insurance and provide stability for her family.
Her next step is a stem cell transplant. This treatment offers her the best chance at extending her life. It is intensive, complex, and requires a long and carefully monitored recovery.
The transplant will mean months away from work, possibly longer. During this time, her family will face significant financial strain. Insurance does not cover everything, and the out of pocket costs associated with transplant care are substantial.
We are aiming to raise $100,000 or more to help give Melda a real chance at this life saving treatment and to provide stability for her family during recovery.

• A full time caregiver required by the transplant team to care for her
• Mortgage and living expenses so her family can remain in their home
• Travel, lodging, and transplant related expenses back and forth from Stanford to Roseville and a month of local housing also required by the transplant team.

Melda is the kind of nurse who stays a little longer at a patient’s bedside. She remembers families. She shares her special brand of compassion and kindness to everyone. Her colleagues at Oncology have witnessed her compassion every day. Now we are standing together to support someone who has given so much to so many.
