My name is Gemma Ayuban. I am 53 years old and have proudly worked as a nurse for over 30 years. Over the last few years, my life has changed dramatically.

After going through a difficult divorce that was finalized in the summer of 2025, I was forced to leave my home. I started over in a small apartment, trying to rebuild my life one step at a time.

In December 2025 while at work, I experienced a serious and unexpected health condition that required emergency brain surgery to remove a tumor that had gone undetected for years.

The surgery saved my life, but recovery has been long and difficult. I have to complete a long and intensive neuro rehabilitation program, learning how to return to my normal routine, care for myself independently, and hopefully continue doing my passion as a nurse.

I have already exhausted all my sick leave and vacation time. Although my employer has been doing everything they can to accommodate me, I am currently unable to work due to worsening cognitive impairment after surgery. However, I still need to cover my rent, utilities, groceries, medical expenses, and other basic living costs.

My friends and remaining family members have helped as much as they can, but those resources are becoming limited. I never imagined I would be in a position where I would need to ask for help, especially after spending my life caring for others.

Today, I am humbly asking for support so I can continue healing without the constant fear of losing my home or falling behind on necessities. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help me pay for: a) Rent and utilities, b) Food and daily living expenses, c) Medical and rehabilitation costs, d) Transportation to appointments and work.
