Help Nurse Ella with her fight in ICU

Please join us in helping a dear friend, amazing daughter, sister and one of the most caring Nurses in the University Hospital of Southampton.

Ella Asuncion is one of our lovely nurses in Major Trauma Unit. She studied and started her career in the Philippines, and joined our Trust in 2021.

She worked as a band 5 for almost 3 years until last January 2023 her health took a downturn. Ella started losing weight, complaining of abdominal pain, repeated fever episodes and unable to tolerate food.

Ella was her family's main breadwinner in the Philippines. She was committed to providing financial support to them. She bravely continued to work and for 9 months, she kept the pain to herself and made it her goal to go home to the Philippines and be with her family by October. She was able to go home on September 29th but her condition worsened which prompted her family to seek medical help.

Ella was brought to the hospital's ICU where she remains to this day. She was diagnosed with Sepsis secondary to generalized peritonitis secondary to multiple perforated jejunum. Ella underwent 3 major surgeries, to fix her intestines. Ella was intubated and is now on BiPAP, as she's not tolerating to breathe on her own. She's currently on continuous TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) and has multiple drains attached to her abdomen.

Being admitted in the Philippines has placed her family in a situation which they are struggling financially to cope up with hospital bills and medications. With this, the family is seeking for financial assistance to help pay the cost.
