Help Nugget with his bladder stone removal surgery

Donation protected
Hi everyone, Nugget had a trip to the emergency vet last night because he was having trouble urinating and was showing some blood. I opted for an X-ray to see what might be going on, and it turns out that he has a stone in his bladder he is having trouble passing. Bladder stones are not uncommon in guinea pigs, but are severely painful and can be life-threatening. There is no treatment or medication to dissolve stones in a guinea pig’s bladder. Therefore, stones that don’t pass on their own need to be surgically removed. If surgery isn’t feasible, euthanasia is the only other option. My Nugget is a very happy, eccentric, playful and otherwise very healthy guinea pig just shy of 3 years old. Euthanasia is not the option I am choosing, because he has the potential to live a much longer and healthier life that he deserves.

He is currently on pain medication to ease the irritation he is experiencing, but further medical attention needs to happen quickly because there is the possibility of the stone causing a blockage and preventing him from urinating all together. Surgery cannot fix anything at this point, and I would have to say goodbye to my furry friend.

As with any other medical emergency, whether for a human or a beloved pet, sudden expenses can add up quickly and be overwhelming. As many of you know, I’m never the type to ask anyone for anything, but I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can either help with anything, no matter how small, or with a share on social media.

Thank you!!
