Woof! I'm Nubis, a 2-3-year-old pitbull mix with a grin that'll melt your heart and a backstory crazier than a cat in a Roomba rodeo. My first owner? Took a one-way trip to the slammer, leaving me to fend for myself in a sketchy crackhouse. My bed back then? The backseat of a beat-up car, snoozing on old fast-food wrappers, dreaming of better days. Then, some big-hearted heroes busted me out, and now I'm in a temporary home (paws crossed it's my forever one!).
My life’s been a wild ride: I went from snoozing in a car for several months to chilling in a crate, barely stretching my legs. Stairs? Yikes, they’re my nemesis. My front paws point outward like I’m trying to high-five the world, but I’ve got these pesky deformations on my ankles that make walking a pain—literally! By the end of the day, I’m one tuckered-out pup.
Here’s the good news: my new yard is the best! I’m discovering the joy of zooming (well, hobbling) around, and I get sore faster than you’d believe. I see my doggo buddies racing around, and oh boy, I wanna join the fun! My humans say a doctor could help me prance like a pro. Can you imagine my tail wagging like a windshield wiper if I could run without wobbling and pain-free?
On Friday, July 25th, I got these fancy X-rays (nope, still don’t get what those are). They showed my ankles need more than a quick fix. The vet folks say I need a bunch of tests to figure out what’s wrong before a “fixer” can work their magic. I’m a bit of a mystery, even to myself!
My human, Alicia, is my superhero. She’s crazy about dogs and rescues pups like me all the time. But here’s the thing: I’m her first pup with such big medical needs, and it’s a lot for her family to handle. They’re not the type to ask for help—trust me, I’ve seen how hard they work to save dogs like me. But without your support, I might have to head to the Nebraska Humane Society. Alicia says they’re awesome but would more than likely send me to the "farm" (sounds cool, but I’d rather stay here and chase my tail!).
Here’s where you come in! Could you be my new permanent home? If you aren't ready for me, no worries. Your donation can help me get the tests and treatments I need to strut my stuff. Alicia says any extra funds will go straight to the Nebraska Humane Society to help other dogs who are down on their luck. So, you’re not just helping me—you’re giving a paw up to tons of other pups! I’m told I’ve got the sweetest temperament for a pit mix (that’s a compliment, right?). I love everyone I meet, and I’m ready to love you, too, if you’ll help me get back on my paws. Let’s make my dream of racing around the yard a reality. Donate today, and I’ll send you a mental doggy kiss (slobber-free, I promise)!
P.S. Alicia says every little bit helps, so even a few bucks can make my tail wag. Share my story, and let’s get this pittie prancing!
