The photo above shows my friend Nshat Salem and his three children. Since the beginning of the g*cide, Nshat and his family have been living through unimaginable hardship and displacement.

I have been helping Nshat and his family for almost two years now (since July/August 2024 I think), and I want to sincerely thank every single person who has donated and supported them during this time. Your generosity has truly helped keep them going.

Nshat first reached out to me through Instagram in a desperate plea for help. Of course, I had to respond; firstly as a fellow human being, and also as a Muslim. In Islam, we are taught to help others as much as we can when we are able to do so.

Unfortunately, I could not continue supporting Nshat and his family alone, as my own finances would not allow it. That is why I created this GoFundMe page.

Over these past two years, Nshat’s wife, Aya, gave birth to their baby boy, Sand, on October 13th, 2024. During this time, the family has been displaced multiple times, enduring conditions no family should ever have to face.

Your donations have helped them survive. Because of your kindness, they have been able to access food, essentials, and support through the hardest periods of their lives - so thank you, truly.

Nshat and I remain in regular contact, and he constantly expresses his gratitude for every person who has contributed.

Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 were especially blessed, as the family received the largest amount of donations they had received at one time. This meant Nshat was not only able to provide for his immediate family, but also help feed members of his extended family.

I will continue supporting Nshat and his family for as long as I am able, and I pray that you will continue helping me support them too.
