Our beautiful puppy Nova is 5 months old and was recently hit by a car. She is suffering from a severe traumatic brain injury and is being transported to the hospital.

My boyfriend and I got Nova, our Pomsky, in Florida this summer when she was only 1.5 months old. She even shares the same birthday as me. Nova is beautiful, smart, full of energy, and always ready to have fun. Unfortunately, during a lacrosse trip to Utica, NY, she escaped her harness and ran into the street as a car was passing. Thankfully, her lungs appear to be fine, but she will need to stay in the hospital for a few days so they can monitor her injuries closely.

My boyfriend works as a teacher, and I am a special education teacher’s assistant. We are both working hard to get by financially while also caring for our beloved pets—Nova the Pomsky, Charlie the Chocolate Lab, Minji our long-haired cat, and Ashy our short-haired cat. We love them all dearly, and it breaks our hearts that one of our little ones is now fighting for her life.

Nova is a shining light that has come into our family, and has helped us all learn to love, to be loved, and how to be our best selves. She has given her 5 year-old chocolate lab brother, Charlie, a new sense of purpose and of youth and has helped through his battle with anxiety. She has been teaching her human brother, Bradyn, gentle love and responsibility. Every single second since the moment we picked up Nova, she has spread nothing but happiness to her family and friends.
