Nova, my friends 10-month-old puppy, is facing a life-threatening emergency. Earlier this week, we noticed Nova was acting strangely and quickly learned from the vet that she likely swallowed a foreign object—possibly a sock—that is now lodged inside her. She’s currently staying overnight at MedVet on fluids, and the veterinarians have told us that she needs immediate surgery to remove the blockage. Without this surgery, her chances of recovery are very slim, but with it, she’s expected to make a full recovery and get back to her playful self.

This has been incredibly hard on my roommate, who is feeling overwhelmed and lost. Nova isn’t just a pet—she’s a best friend and constant companion. Their bond is so close, and seeing Nova in pain has been heartbreaking. We’re doing everything we can to get her the care she needs, but the costs are adding up quickly.
