Help Nova Fight Her Way Back to Health

Recently, a severely neglected dog named Nova was picked up by the city in heartbreaking condition. She was emaciated, weak, and clearly had been suffering for a long time without proper care.

A few days later, she was adopted by the best family who refused to let her story end that way. Nova finally had a safe place to land—but her fight wasn’t over.

Within just 4–5 days, Nova’s condition worsened significantly, and she had to be rushed back to the vet. Since then, she has remained under constant medical care. She battled multiple infections and received intensive treatment, including IV fluids, nutrition support, antibiotics, and care for a painful abscess in her shoulder.

Because of prolonged neglect, Nova’s body had begun to break down its own muscle just to survive. Right now, she is still very weak and not yet able to stand on her own—but she is fighting.

Looking ahead, Nova’s recovery will be a long road. Once she is stable, she will likely need physical therapy to help her rebuild strength and relearn how to stand and walk. She will also require a specialized diet to safely restore her health—both of which come with ongoing costs.

Her care team is doing everything they can to stabilize her, keep her comfortable, and give her a real chance at recovery. But the cost of intensive veterinary care is adding up quickly.
