Hello, my name is Edali Martinez, and I am a licensed social worker located in the Northwest Suburbs. Our area has very limited access to mutual aid, yet many families here are being deeply affected by ongoing ICE raids. Families in our community are hurting. Parents are being forced to make impossible choices between putting food on the table, paying rent, or keeping the lights on. The need for rent and utility assistance is overwhelming, and many individuals are unable to work, leaving them with little to no income to cover life’s most basic necessities. We are doing everything we can to support these families during this incredibly difficult time, but we cannot continue this work without your help. Every donation directly supports families by helping cover groceries, rent, and essential utilities, providing stability and dignity when they need it most. As a social worker I am connected to many families in our community. These funds will be sent to families in need through methods such as Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, checks, and cash. It will help cover rent and utilities for many families. Some families are looking at about $2,500 monthly rent and without being able to work, it’s impossible to cover. As long as we have the funds, we will continue to assist them.
