The North Central High School wrestling team is back after 47 years, and we’re so proud to offer this opportunity to our students and community. Right now, we have 21 high school athletes on the team, and when the middle school season starts next month, even more students will join us. For many of our kids, wrestling is their only extracurricular activity, and some have worked hard to improve their schoolwork and discipline just to be part of the team. Our team is truly like a family, and we’re excited to welcome both girls and boys to the mat this year.
Currently, our practice mats are very small—only two students can wrestle at a time, and we’re limited to practicing tight moves. We need larger mats so more athletes can practice together and, most importantly, so everyone can train safely. Right now, there’s a real risk of injury if someone falls or rolls off the mat onto the hard tile floor. Our dream is to eventually expand the mats to the walls, but our first priority is to cover the floor and keep our wrestlers safe.
We want to thank anyone in advance for any support they are able to give our team in our journey to build a strong and safe new wrestling program at North Central. All the support means so much to our young athletes. The right equipment will make a huge difference in the level of training we are able to offer our wrestlers. We appreciate our community support in starting our program!
