For as long as I can remember, I have been visiting the mountains of North Carolina. Core memories as a child cutting down our Christmas tree every Thanksgiving, first ski trips, youth soccer tournaments, visiting friends in college, first weekend getaways with Kimrey, best friends’ weddings, first family trip after Emmett was born when we also found out Kimrey was pregnant with Francie, long weekends with best friends, and so much more. I always said my heart is on the coast of North Carolina, but my soul is in the mountains of North Carolina.
The damage from Hurricane Helene throughout the mountains of North Carolina is nothing short of devastating, and I simply cannot imagine what the amazing folks of the high country are going through.
My heart is calling me to help, so I have decided to drive up there later this week to lend a helping hand with cleanup, hand out supplies, and anything else I can do. With that, I want to make the most of this trip, so I am going to rent a large U-Haul and fill it up with as many requested items as I can fit.
I am in touch with a few organizations in the Asheville area as well as Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. My plan is to go to Asheville with the first load and, with enough support, take another trip to Boone/Blowing Rock/Banner Elk.
Any donations will go directly to supplies I will deliver to drop areas and organizations accepting supply donations. Anything helps! If you want your donation to go to something specific such as diapers, dog/cat food, blankets, etc., please leave it in the comment so I can purchase it on your behalf.
Thank you for your love and support!
