Help Norie & Richard After Their Home Invasion

A message from Norie Huddle:

Tuesday evening, January 23

From 7:30pm till almost the same time Wednesday morning, Richard and I were face down on the floor of our house with our hands tightly tied behind our backs in a way that cut our arms and blood circulation - and in a way that we could barely breathe...for almost 12 hours.

Four masked men, dressed in black, with a pistol and at least one military rifle went through literally everything in our house, throwing our things all over the floors of our bedroom, two bodegas and living room. They took three computers and a large external hard drive with a collective value of about $5000 (but with so much more value in the information stored on them), about $4000 in silver, at least another $2000 in jewelry, another $1000 in tools, and about $4000 in cash. So far we have had about $500 in personal medical bills which are helping us a lot in our recovery, and we will be needing a good deal more medical attention.

We feel fortunate to have escaped with our lives because all night long they repeatedly threatened to kill us if we didn't tell them where we had "all our money hidden" and that they had been told by someone who said he knew us that we had "a lot of money" in our house and not much security.

We were freed around 7:15 Wednesday morning by our worker, Camilo Tacuri, who came up to our house because we had not opened the storage room for him as we always did in the morning.

There is much more to say but here I just want to say that Richard and I are incredibly grateful to be alive and for the support of wonderful friends.
