Help Norbert's referral to neurology

Donation protected
Hi there everyone,

My name is Ellie. Myself and my partner adopted Norbert, our kitten in December. He and his mother Narla are rescues from Streetkatz rescue. Both have bought absolute joy to our lives.

Unfortunately, around 2 weeks ago our sweet Norbert started displaying worrying symptoms. He would act as if possessed and run frantically round the house, lose control of his bladder and scream like a human. After these episodes, he will pace around the house, hide and be very confused. Initial indications were a stress related issue, perhaps a UTI but unfortunately it isn't that simple.

Norbert went downhill that evening, ending up in emergency veterinarian care. He was lethargic and floppy and reluctant to eat. Since the weekend, he has been under the amazing care of Culverden vets. So far all blood tests have indicated that it is nothing obvious and likely something very rare.

We have had conversations with RVC who are willing to take him for a referral for in depth neurological testing including an MRI, CT and spinal tap. This referral alone will cost £3000. This will be the best care we could give him.

We are reaching the limit on what our insurance will pay out. Our insurance limit is £3000 and we have spent over half of that already on emergency vet fees and fees of him being with Culverden. We never even imagined when taking out a policy that we would ever need to claim for something so substantial, especially this early on in his little life.

We are so incredibly desperate to help our Norby. He means the absolute world to us and we can't imagine a house without him. We really don't want it to come down to having to admit defeat as we cannot afford his care.

Please, anything you can spare for our sweet Norby bear would be appreciated. We acknowledge that we may spend this money on a referral and still not get the outcome we want (to have him home and healthy) and it is possible that after the referral there's nothing that can be done to help him, but we also are distraught thinking money could be the barrier to us potentially getting to the bottom of what is going on here.

Thank you
Ellie, Tom and Narla
xx
