Friends, Family and the GoFundMe Community!,
Thank you for taking the time to consider my amazing friend Norah's GoFundMe!
About Norah
For those of you who know Norah, I'm sure you get a warm & fuzzy feeling whenever she comes to mind. For those who don't know Norah, she has a smile that immediately makes you smile back, a contagious little giggle, and a heart like no other. She's a sweet, kind-hearted, and compassionate friend who's a complete joy to be around.
Having hit rock-bottom and overcoming countless hardships in the past, I and countless others are amazed at how Norah has gotten as far as she has while maintaining the same smile and positive outlook on life. She's truly one of the strongest and most inspiring woman we know.
The Backstory
Norah is 28 years old with a deep passion for traveling, photography, and fashion. She earned a law-degree and practiced law prior to moving to the US in 2018. She desires to further her knowledge around Social Equality, LGBTQ+, Woman's Rights, and Human Rights all-together. All of which are areas of Society Norah aspires to make a difference-in and improve for communities she feels called to serve.
Norah arrived to the US by herself, knowing very little English, knowledge of the culture, how to drive, get around, or which direction to turn her head in most cases. However, she was determined to figure it all out!
At the height of the Pandemic, as her crazy-story would have it, Norah was presented with a bump-in-the-road, one she was not expecting at the least bit, but one she's accepted to face head on.
In July 2020, she noticed a slight lump in her left-breast. After weeks of painful biopsies and examinations, it was confirmed that Norah was diagnosed with one of the Top 3 Deadliest Cancers; Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Like anyone in her situation, she was devastated!
In order to stop the rapidly growing cancer cells, doctors have determined that Norah undergo a mastectomy (surgery to remove the breast), followed by chemotherapy and radiation as soon as possible. Norah is now faced with the fight for her life, the loss of her breast, her gorgeous hair, the possibility of not having children, and a year of extraneous medical procedures - all at the young age of 28.
Considering Norah’s ‘non-citizen’ status - she doesn't qualify for traditional medical insurance or government-aid. After hours of research, prayers, and 'faith in the process', Norah miraculously qualified for a restricted insurance program aimed specifically for women with breast cancer who make low-income and is in need of emergency treatment. What a blessing!
We Need Your Help
As Norah embarks on the fight for her life; her road to full-recovery will be an uphill battle with many unknown and unforeseeable costs (physical, mental, spiritual, and financial costs). Asking for financial help is often difficult and humbling for Norah. However, she understands that treatments and a hopeful recovery will require HUGE financial support. Without the ability to work and earn an income, Norah is open to any and all the support she can get.
Where Your Generous Donation Will Go
Although the total cost of on-going treatments are uncertain at this time, we are setting our GoFundMe goal to $68,500. This amount factors everything we currently know to be a cost over the next 12-months. Any and all generous donations will go directly towards Norah's medical treatments, integrative doctors, and essential costs of living; rent, groceries, hygiene, transportation, etc. In addition, any donations we determine to be excess, will go towards the aid of another experiencing the same or similar hardship.
We understand that times are tough for many and a financial donation may be a stretch. However, please know that 'sharing' or 'tagging' Norah's GoFundMe campaign to friends, family, colleagues and social medias are ALL generous forms of donation!
