Nora, our sweet and lovable Goldendoodle, has always been the heart of our family. Just two weeks ago, she started with a mild cough that we thought was simply a side effect from a recent dental procedure. But as the days went on, her cough worsened and she stopped eating. We took her to her vet, who tested for Bordetella and prescribed medication to fight an infection and stimulate her appetite. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to help, and Nora continued to decline.

When her breathing became labored and her cough grew more severe, we rushed her to the emergency vet. There, we learned that Nora had developed pneumonia. She was given a new round of medications, and we were hopeful she would turn the corner. But her condition only got worse. She struggled to breathe, coughed constantly, and had thick, dark mucous discharge. After another visit to her primary vet for IV fluids and more medicine, we tried everything we could to get her to eat, but she barely touched her food. Over the last two weeks, she has eaten less than two cups of food and is now showing signs of organ failure.

We have now taken Nora to VCA Encina, where she is receiving critical care. X-rays and bloodwork show her body is fighting a severe infection, her lungs are nearly filled with pneumonia, and her heart is struggling because of dehydration. She is on new antibiotics, and the vets are planning to place a GI tube and perform an endotracheal wash to identify the infection. We have spent nearly everything we have to give Nora a fighting chance. It's difficult to ask for help, but we are almost at the point where we may not be able to afford further testing and hospitalization. We love our Nora Girl so much and want to do everything possible for her. Any support you can give means the world to us and will help Nora get the care she desperately needs.
