Meet Naella: A Bright Star on an Unexpected Journey
We invite you to meet Naella Tang, a remarkable young woman full of life, light, and dreams. Naella will be turning 14 this August, and until just a few weeks ago, she was like any other healthy teen—active, energetic, and passionate about everything she did.
✨ A Life Filled with Promise
Naella, of Thai and Chinese heritage, has always had an adventurous spirit and a big heart. She loves the outdoors—bike riding, swimming, rafting, beach days—and has a special love for animals. She’s a talented artist and builder, always creating with Legos and sketchbooks. But her true love is volleyball. Though just 5 feet tall, she led her middle school team at Briarmeadow Charter to victory in the city finals this May—an amazing accomplishment that reflects her grit and determination!
She was also accepted to the highly competitive Carnegie Vanguard High School and was beyond excited to begin her freshman year this August. On top of that, she dreams of becoming a veterinarian and finds deep strength and joy through her faith and community at Alliance International Church (AIC) in Pearland.
A Sudden, Life-Altering Diagnosis
In early June 2025, Naella's life took an unexpected turn. A routine eye exam led to an urgent CT scan, revealing something no one could have prepared for: a rare and cancerous Intracranial Germ Cell Tumor.
She was quickly admitted to Texas Children’s Hospital, where her treatment began within two weeks. While she faces this battle with incredible bravery, her high school dreams are now on hold as she fights for her health.
Intensive Treatment, Week by Week
Naella’s treatment includes regular inpatient chemotherapy sessions that require her to stay in the hospital for an entire week at a time. After each round of chemo, she undergoes multiple tests—scans, bloodwork, and other evaluations—to monitor her progress and determine next steps.
These hospital stays come with many added costs beyond the already high medical bills, including daily parking fees, meals, and caregiving expenses during each stay.
A Family Facing Enormous Challenges
Naella’s parents, Thomas and Na-ree are doing everything they can to support her. Thomas, once the proud owner of a small ramen restaurant chain, lost nearly everything due to the pandemic. He now works full-time as a sales manager and still helps out at his remaining food kiosk downtown. Na-ree had just started a new job, but gave it up immediately to care for Naella full time.
To make matters harder, their insurance doesn’t cover Texas Children’s Hospital—deeming it out-of-network. This has placed a tremendous financial burden on top of the emotional and physical toll of Naella’s diagnosis.
❤️ How You Can Help Naella and Her Family
What this family needs most right now is to focus fully on Naella’s healing—not on the stress of mounting expenses. Your donation can ease that burden and help ensure Naella receives the best treatment and long-term care available.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Out-of-network medical bills
• Inpatient hospital stay costs
• Post-chemotherapy testing and imaging
• Parking and meals during hospital stays
• Long-term care and recovery needs
Every dollar makes a difference. Whether it’s a small gift or a larger contribution, your support becomes part of her healing—part of her journey toward recovery and hope.
Please consider making a heartfelt donation to stand with Naella and her family. Your generosity will help fuel her fight and give them the strength to move forward, one hopeful step at a time.
Thank you for being part of Team Naella.
