Noor’s Extraordinary Story
Noor Aziz Ahmadzai served 17 years alongside British forces in Afghanistan as a translator and elite counter-terrorism commander. Trained at Sandhurst, he fought in brutal battles like the Taliban siege of Kabul’s Intercontinental Hotel and responded to the maternity clinic massacre. After fleeing the Taliban barefoot, he resettled in the UK — only to face homelessness among 1,400+ Afghan veterans. Despite all of this, Noor rebuilt his life here in the UK — working, recovering, and being a father to his beautiful 2.5-year-old son.

Thursday Night Incident
On Thursday evening, Noor was involved in a serious altercation with strangers while at work. He later collapsed and was left in a critical condition. He was rushed to the hospital with a severe brain injury and has since been sedated in intensive care. An investigation is currently underway, and GBH charges are being pursued.

Latest Update
We have now passed the critical 72-hour period following the injury — the time when brain swelling presents the greatest risk. At this stage, neurosurgery is no longer expected to be required. The neurosurgeon has shared that a full recovery from the brain injury itself is possible. Given how serious things initially were, this is incredibly encouraging news.

However, Noor has developed a chest infection, which is a setback and a reminder that he is still in a very fragile condition. There are ongoing risks, particularly around secondary complications, and the road ahead remains uncertain.

That said, today’s outlook is more hopeful than yesterday’s. We are cautiously moving in the right direction and holding onto that hope.

Why We Are Asking for Your Help
Noor carries enormous trauma from his years of service — trauma that makes this brain injury a far more complex and precarious road to recovery than it might be for others. The physical and psychological challenges ahead will be significant, and he will need sustained, specialist support to give him the best possible chance.

George — the mother of Noor’s 2.5-year-old son, and a working nurse, has stepped up with extraordinary compassion to be his advocate and support system, even though they are no longer together. She is a single parent, managing her own career and caring for their child, while now also navigating the hospital system, liaising with medical teams, and coordinating support for Noor.

Every penny raised will go directly to George, to be disbursed thoughtfully and in a measured, professional way to fund the specialist support, rehabilitation, and care that Noor’s recovery demands. This may include:

• Specialist trauma-informed psychological support
• Neurorehabilitation and physical therapy
• Practical support to allow George to continue advocating for Noor without financial strain
• Any additional costs that arise as recovery progresses

Noor stood with British soldiers through the worst that war could throw at them. He chose loyalty, courage, and service.

He has a little boy who needs his father to recover.
