Hello, my name is Marcus Lawrence, and I’m honored to share a piece of my journey with you. I’m the owner and operator of Nony’s Cheesecakes, a dream that’s been nurtured in my heart since I was a young boy, just tall enough to reach the stove. Cooking has always been my passion—a way to bring warmth and joy to others, even in the most challenging times.

The past four years have been difficult for so many of us. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted our lives in unimaginable ways, and for small business owners like me, it brought countless challenges. But what kept me going, even when the road seemed impossible, was the unwavering support of our community. Your encouragement has been my beacon of hope, reminding me that I’m not alone in this journey.

During those dark days, when making cheesecakes became nearly impossible, I turned to other forms of creativity to keep my spirit alive. Gardening at the East Athens Community Garden and writing music provided an outlet, but it was the simple, heartfelt question—"Aren’t you the cheesecake man?"—that reignited my passion. Those words, spoken by people who believed in me, reminded me that Nony’s Cheesecakes wasn’t just my dream—it was something that brought joy to so many others.

In 2024, as the world began to heal, I decided to take another leap of faith and rebranded as Nony’s Cheesecakes. The outpouring of support was beyond anything I could have imagined. But just as things started to look up, we faced another challenge—the commercial space we relied on was no longer available. It was a tough blow, but I’ve learned that setbacks are a part of the journey, and they often lead to new opportunities.

That’s why I’m reaching out to you, our beloved community, with a humble request. We’re aiming to raise $75,000 to purchase a food truck. This food truck will allow us to bring our cheesecakes to more people, explore new markets, and secure a stable future for our business. But more than that, it will give us the chance to give back—to mentor young people in our community and inspire them to pursue their own dreams, just as I’ve been able to pursue mine.
