I was recently placed on unpaid medical leave due to an unforeseen injury that is still ongoing. I missed an entire month of pay and spent over a month in a medical boot. Even after returning to work, I was put on accommodations that severely reduced my hours, and I often had to leave early due to flare ups from my injury due to working mostly on my feet. I am currently in an ankle brace and still healing, and still have major flare ups which continues to limit my ability to work full hours and earn enough to cover my basic needs at the moment. The lack of pay and the drastic reduction in hours have caused me to fall behind on my bills, I was once ahead on and now I am at risk of losing my home.

I was able to receive partial funding for April rent, but I am still at risk of eviction if I don’t cover the remaining balance and pay for May. The funds raised here will go toward covering May’s rent, basic needs and utilities. I have just received court papers for eviction with a date as soon as next week, May 5th. They are now requesting May’s rent at the same time and won’t accept April without May even though I tried to pay April prior to May’s due date. So this is incredibly urgent!

I have tried everything I can to get help, applying for county assistance, reaching out to local churches, and even selling items online. Unfortunately, I was denied county assistance due to paperwork issues with my apartment community, and the churches I contacted were unable to help because I was not in their district. I am doing my best to make ends meet, but I have exhausted my options.

This support would mean stability, safety, and a second chance to keep going. I’ve faced unexpected medical issues that forced me to step away from work, and it set me back financially in a way I couldn’t have planned for. I’ve been actively working to recover and worked hard to just get my place in December, and this is a temporary hardship, not a reflection of where I’m headed. This help would allow me to stay in my home and continue rebuilding instead of losing everything I’ve worked for and having no place to live.
