My fiancé and I are doing everything we can to stay afloat, but despite our best efforts, we’ve fallen behind on our mortgage due to a perfect storm of hardships—medical emergencies, car trouble, legal costs, and the strain of caring for family members in crisis. I also care for my mother, who is going through chemotherapy, and our neurodivergent child who thrives on routine.
