Hello, my name is Martha Watson (Palomino), and I’m reaching out on behalf of my beloved uncle, Noe Jaime Esquivel, who is currently in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
Just a few weeks ago, Noe was a vibrant, healthy 52-year-old — a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and son — full of life and joy. But following spinal surgery, a sudden and aggressive bacterial infection turned his world upside down. He’s now been in the ICU for three weeks, courageously fighting for his life.
Noe has undergone four surgeries and countless intensive procedures to stabilize his condition. Despite overwhelming odds, his resilience and determination to live have been nothing short of miraculous — astonishing both his medical team and our family. Every day he fights, and every day he reminds us just how strong the human spirit can be.
But the cost of this fight is immense. With his insurance nearly maxed out, the financial burden on our family is becoming unmanageable. ICU care, life-saving treatments, and critical medications have far exceeded what we can afford on our own.
That’s why we’re turning to you — our community, friends, and compassionate strangers — for help.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Noe’s medical care and long road to recovery.
Please consider contributing, sharing this campaign, and keeping Noe in your prayers. Your kindness can truly make a life-changing difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time.
With deep gratitude,
Martha & the Esquivel Family
***6/14/2025 Update***
Dear Friends,
I want to share more about the critical condition my uncle is facing. He is battling a rare and aggressive infection called Necrotizing Fasciitis — a fast-spreading flesh-eating bacteria that led him into septic shock and multiple surgeries.
According to the CDC, there are only 700–1,200 cases of this infection in the U.S. annually. That’s roughly 0.4 cases per 100,000 people — it’s rare, and it’s deadly without immediate, intensive care.
Why We Urgently Need Your Help
My uncle lives in Mexico, where the healthcare system is vastly different from the U.S.
Public hospitals often face:
Long wait times and shortages of doctors and equipment
Overcrowding and lack of emergency care resources
Poor outcomes for patients with critical conditions
Private hospitals, on the other hand, offer life-saving care — but only to those who can afford it. Thanks to insurance through his job, my uncle was able to access a private ICU. This has truly saved his life.
But now, his insurance is running out.
What Happens Next?
In Mexico’s private system:
There is no charity care
There are no payment plans
If you can’t pay upfront, you don’t receive care
And if you run out of funds, you’re discharged — even if your life is still in danger.
This is the reality my uncle is facing right now.
After 5 surgeries and 3 weeks in intensive care, his fight is far from over. And without immediate financial help, he’ll be transferred to an overwhelmed public hospital — a move that could cost him his life.
How Your Donation Will Help
We are urgently trying to raise $18,000. That will cover:
Just 5.6 days in the ICU
or
Half the cost of one surgery
It’s a huge sum — but together, we can reach it. Every dollar matters. If we’re blessed to raise more, those funds will go toward additional ICU care, rehab, and long-term recovery.
This is a step-by-step journey — and today, we’re fighting just to keep him alive.
Please, if you can, donate and share this campaign with your network. Your support can literally mean the difference between life and death for my uncle.
With gratitude,
Martha Watson
