Hi, I’m Kylie, mom to four kids, and now… two Type 1 Diabetics. I never thought I’d write those words. But here we are.
Our baby boy, Noble, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at just 7 months old. He was the youngest case ever seen at Primary Children’s Lehi. Nothing about his care is easy. The medical world isn’t built for babies like him. His doses are so tiny they barely register in a syringe. He can’t speak, can’t tell us when he’s crashing, and his body changes so fast, we’re always racing against time. Every night, we set alarms. Every day, we make dozens of decisions that could save or cost his life.
And just as we were learning how to care for Noble, 63 days later our 6-year-old daughter Goldie picked up his glucose monitor one day, just out of curiosity. When it beeped, it read 416. I asked her to wipe her hands and test again. 398. My heart sank. We had just begun to process one diagnosis… and suddenly we were handed another.
Now we’re parenting two children with a disease that never rests. Type 1 doesn’t sleep, doesn’t give breaks, doesn’t let go.
We’re doing everything we can to manage their care—but the truth is, we need help. That’s why we’re raising money for a Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD)—a specially trained dog that can smell when blood sugar levels are dropping or spiking, often before any monitor or human can detect it.
For Noble, who can’t speak for himself and for Goldie, who’s still learning how to listen to her body. A DAD could be life-changing. Maybe even life-saving.
These dogs are expensive, and the wait is long. But every day we wait is a risk. We’re asking for help so we can get started now—because our kids’ lives depend on timing, awareness, and community.
Thank you for reading our story. For caring. For sharing. For donating.
Your support means more than words can express.
With love and hope,
Kylie, Noble, Goldie, and our family
