Hello, My 8 year old brother has had one of the toughest years anyone could go through. In late January he started this journey with just being told it was a simple rash or allergic reaction and within a month as we kept seeing different doctors, someone finally tried to help and did some digging. After being diagnosed again and again we still didn’t know what it was. With every test and “pokey” as he calls it. It felt like one step forward two steps back. In late March he was tested for HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) which is a very rare immune disorder causing uncontrollable inflammation that damaged organs and could lead to rapid death. As the tests were botched by the doctors in Seattle we were never given a definite answer as to what it was which felt like a huge set back in our time sensitive case. After we were finally referred to Cincinnati Children’s we’re are now exploring more possibilities than just HLH. In a few short weeks Noahs blood will be examined through and through to finally find what is causing this illness. This could potentially help future children or adults who go through these situations and prevent the prolong experience we’ve faced by examining and testing his blood for extremely rare diseases. At this point, anything would help because we all just want the best for Noah and what he’s been though.
