In 2021, my life changed overnight when I was suddenly diagnosed with a rare and unexplained kidney condition—through no fault of my own. I now had end stage kidney failure and no kidney function. What followed turned everything I knew upside down.

Since then, I’ve spent over 22,000 hours on peritoneal dialysis just to stay alive. For nearly five years now—this being year six—I’ve been connected to dialysis for a minimum of 10 hours every single night. It’s been physically exhausting, mentally draining, and has made working consistently incredibly difficult.

On February 24th, I’ll be receiving a living kidney donation from an incredible and selfless man, Josh Frick, at CPMC Medical Center in San Francisco. This transplant represents hope, freedom, and the chance at a life no longer ruled by dialysis.

The recovery will be long and comes with significant expenses. I’ll need to remain in San Francisco for about two weeks post-op, which will cost just over $4,200, in addition to gas, food, and other medical-related costs during recovery.

As hard as it is for me to ask, I could truly use the help. I’ve always made my own way and would never ask if I were able to work more right now or after surgery and through recovery. Any support—whether through donating or sharing—means more than I can express.
