Help NK Hollywood and Missy in their time of need

Donation protected
Hello Brothers,

It is with a heavy heart that I (Vic Valerio, NK Lay Low, Free State Chapter, President) and Ed MulHolland, NK Ed-Moe, First State Chapter, President) reach out to request financial assistance, in the form of individual donations, to help a long serving brother NK Hollywood (Pete DiLima) and his wife, LK La Madrina (Missy DiLima), who have been struggling to survive with recent tragedy and health complications.

Hollywood came into the NKMC approximately 12 years ago with the Free State Chapter (MD). Hollywood held many positions within the Free State Chapter to include Vice President, 1st Sgt at Arms, Secretary, and Treasurer over the years with the chapter. Hollywood relocated to Delaware in 2019 and assisted with the start of the First State Chapter (DE) and currently serves as chapter Vice President.

I’d like to share the circumstances for this request to see the hardships that have impacted the lives of Hollywood and his wife Missy:

In March of 2020 Hollywood and Missy moved to Delaware after COVID shut down Missy’s massage business of 20 years in Kensington, MD. Federal and State regulations left her business unable to continue and contribute to their financial well being. It was the plan of both, recently married, to move to Delaware to continue their lives and live out their dreams. Hollywood found employment working for the City of Ocean City, Maryland and Missy slowly started her skilled profession with beginning a massage business.

Approximately a month after relocating to Delaware Missy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma Cancer. Missy had to undergo surgery to remove two cancerous tumors from her jaw line along with several lymph nodes. She has been under going cancer treatments at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore MD, since having surgery. The treatments leave her sick, weak, and exhausted making it difficult for her to work.

In April 2021, Hollywood was working and operating his city issued Segway. Hollywood was a victim of a horrific accident resulting with a Traumatic Brain injury which resulted with brain bleeds in two locations, a punctured lung, two fractured ribs, a torn rotator cuff, and fracture of the T-10 vertebrae. This injury has left Hollywood unable to work to this day. Hollywood is recovering and under doctor’s care receiving treatment and therapy. Hollywood currently has an attorney addressing the work related issues and injuries resulting from the accident, but resolving this case will take some time.

To make matters worse, Missy was recently diagnosed with another new growth in her leg. The latest biopsy results indicate the growth to be cancerous and more surgery has been scheduled for the end of this month (December 2021). The DiLima’s are hoping with this next scheduled surgery that Missy will be clear of cancer, able to stop treatment, and start real recovery. With this, both hope to get back on their feet to the life that they’ve envisioned and love.

The DiLima’s are struggling to survive on Hollywood’s disability benefits and have exhausted their savings. They are falling behind and their debt is mounting. It was difficult, to say the least, for Hollywood to reach out to myself and Ed Mulholland to share his personal hardships and ask for help. This is hard for anyone and it’s especially difficult when one of our own falls into a situation where they need to reach out for help.

As you are aware, an organization’s funds cannot be used for a member of the organization, particularly if the organization is a non-profit. We’re hoping our Brothers can find it in their hearts to personally contribute a little something to help Hollywood and Missy hold on. Both Hollywood and Missy strongly believe they will overcome this setback, regain their health, and be able to get back on their own two feet. They just need a little help to get by.

On behalf of Hollywood and Missy, Ed Mulholland, and me, we’d like to thank you all for your assistance which will be well received and appreciated.

PLEASE, at Hollywood and Missy’s wishes, DO NOT SHARE ON YOUR PERSONAL FACEBOOK PAGES.
