Help Nixie Breathe Easy Again
Donation protected
Meet Nixie our 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who is as playful and loving as they come. She's a member of our family.
Nixie is fighting a battle that she cannot win without your help. She needs an lobectomy of her left lower lung. She has something in her lung the vets can't identify but think is organic matter and it makes it so she has a constant infection and she has had it since July 4.
She seems okay with all the medicine but at one point each day breathing is a struggle. The meds can't hold the infection back.
We're asking for your support to raise money to help cover her surgery at the U on September 25. We've already spent several thousand on the emergency room, all the antibiotics, multiple vet visits and U visits, and the bronchoscopy and scan to try to see and remove what is in her lung. The U says it is too deep to retrieve so she needs this surgery. To say that this situation has been emotionally and financially taxing would be an understatement.
If you've ever met Nixie you know she brings joy to everyone around her. Hearing her cough every morning has been heartbreaking for us and we can't count on the antibiotics to keep working because they can't win. We can't bear the thought of losing her to something that is treatable.
I will give regular updates on Nixie’s condition with pictures and tell you how your generous donations are being used.
Please help. Donate even a small amount and it will mean Nixie one step closer to breathing comfortably again and helps us. If you can't donate sharing this will help us reach our goal.
We are immensely grateful for any help you can offer. We hope you give Nixie the chance she deserves to live a long, happy life full of running, playing, and making everyone smile.
Thank you for taking the time to read Nixie’s story.
