Amigos,

Hoy vengo con el corazón inundado de tristeza para compartirles la situación que están viviendo mi tía Nina y su esposo, Luis Sánchez (“Mijito”).

El lunes 20 de julio en horas de la mañana, mientras estacionaban su vehículo en Walmart, fueron interceptados sorpresivamente por agentes de ICE. Ambos fueron bajados del vehículo y trasladados a una sede en Atlanta, donde comenzó su proceso migratorio.

Desde ese mismo momento buscamos ayuda legal y ya contamos con un abogado de inmigración que está trabajando en cada uno de sus casos. Sin embargo, al tratarse de dos procesos individuales, los costos legales son muy elevados y deben cubrirse por separado. Lamentablemente, nuestra familia no cuenta con los recursos económicos necesarios para afrontar estos gastos en tan poco tiempo.

Es importante mencionar que tanto Nina como Luis tienen una solicitud de asilo en trámite y han cumplido con su proceso migratorio. Además, ambos cuentan con un récord completamente limpio; nunca han sido condenados por ningún delito ni tienen antecedentes penales. Aun así, hoy se encuentran enfrentando esta difícil situación, que ha tomado por sorpresa a toda nuestra familia.

Quienes conocen a Nina y a Luis saben la calidad de personas que son. Durante años han dedicado su vida a capturar los momentos más importantes de muchas familias. Como fotógrafos, han estado presentes en bodas, celebraciones de quince años, bautizos, cumpleaños y todo tipo de eventos, conservando recuerdos que hoy forman parte de la historia de muchas personas. Siempre han trabajado con esfuerzo, honestidad y un profundo amor por lo que hacen.

Hoy, por primera vez, son ellos quienes necesitan de nuestra ayuda.

Con mucha humildad queremos pedirles que, si está dentro de sus posibilidades, nos apoyen con cualquier aporte para cubrir los honorarios legales y los gastos relacionados con sus procesos migratorios. No importa el monto; cada donación representa una esperanza y nos acerca un poco más a poder brindarles la defensa que necesitan.

Today, I come to you with a heart full of sadness to share what my aunt, Nina, and her husband, Luis Sánchez (“Mijito”), are currently going through.

On the morning of Monday, July 20, while they were parking their vehicle at Walmart, they were unexpectedly approached by ICE agents. They were asked to step out of their vehicle and were taken to an ICE facility in Atlanta, where their immigration proceedings began.

From that very moment, we sought legal assistance and are grateful to have an immigration attorney representing each of their cases. However, because these are two separate legal cases, the legal expenses are significant and must be paid individually. Unfortunately, our family does not have the financial resources to cover these costs on such short notice.

It is important to know that both Nina and Luis have pending asylum applications and have been fully complying with their immigration process. They also have completely clean records. Neither of them has ever been convicted of a crime or has any criminal history. Even so, they are now facing this incredibly difficult situation, which has come as a shock to our entire family.

Anyone who knows Nina and Luis knows the kind of people they are. For many years, they have dedicated their lives to capturing some of the most meaningful moments in the lives of others. As photographers, they have been part of weddings, quinceañeras, baptisms, birthdays, and countless special events, preserving memories that families will treasure forever. They have always worked with honesty, dedication, and a genuine passion for what they do.

Today, for the first time, they are the ones who need our help.
