My good friend Nim is in crisis and needs your support to get through this rough time. He’s suddenly homeless in pdx winter. Nim faces numerous barriers for housing being that he is disabled, trans, and celiac (autoimmune disorder, gluten free). Together he and I have looked into his immediate options and it’s pretty bleak. None of the emergency shelter options actually accommodate celiac and the risk of contaminated food is not tolerable. Even a small exposure makes Nim too sick to function.

Nim has continuously endured scarce options. More recently Nim tragically lost a long term housing situation due to his being trans. Then in another devastating setback, Nim was under the impression he had secured a new stable housing situation only to have it suddenly ripped away. The stress of these circumstances also causes flare-ups of his chronic illnesses. As you can imagine things feel pretty urgent and overwhelming right now. Your support will go a long way towards calming the panic and making space for hope to move forward.

Many of Nim’s immediate circle are also struggling marginalized people. We know that these days too many people are struggling, but any little bit helps tremendously! Together we might save a life. Watch for updates on the progress we make towards Nim’s hopeful future.

These funds will go towards Nim’s basic necessities like shelter, food, and transportation. Currently his options look like hotel & couch surfing, getting on waitlists for temporary shelters and eventually long term section 8 housing, or finding a low-priced room to rent.
