Created by Nila on behalf of an organizer for the Sunrise Movement Los Angeles Chapter.
A dedicated youth climate organizer for the Sunrise Movement Los Angeles Chapter needs a car to continue his vital work. As a young Black man, his lived experience provides a crucial perspective to the fight for climate equity.
Currently, navigating Los Angeles without a car is a major obstacle to his organizing work. He needs reliable transportation to attend community events, meet with partner organizations, and respond quickly to emerging opportunities for action, such as protesting at an oil refinery or distributing mutual aid.
Your support will help him directly and ensure that youth-led organizing continues to grow and thrive in the fight against the climate crisis. Thank you for your generosity, solidarity, and commitment to building a sustainable future.
Context/Timeline:
This organizer has never owned a car and used to borrow his grandma's car. He found a used car for $3,000 but it was sold at auction in September 2024. Since then, we’ve been trying to raise money to help him buy a different car. It’ll be a modest, pre-loved car. The goal is for him to have reliable transportation.
More about the Organizer:
He is a passionate advocate for environmental justice and plays a vital role in building partnerships with like-minded organizations across California, amplifying the voices of those most impacted by the climate crisis. He is a trusted mentor and advocate who dedicates his time and energy to ensure young people have the tools and knowledge to take meaningful action in their communities.
