Nikky started feeling ill the week of Thanksgiving 2020. She thought she had the flu, high fever, weakness, nausea, etc. She could still taste, smell, she didn’t have congestion or headaches. She didn’t think she had COVID and was tested and tested negative. Her health began to deteriorate as she became more and more weak and would spend hours and some nights on the bathroom floor to try to cool her body down. Her parents and brother came to assist her, they all got and tested positive for COVID upon arrival to Nashville. Nikky went to the emergency room seeking medical care, she was turned away due to the hospital being full with COVID patients. Nikky’s parents realized her situation was becoming dire; she was not making sense when she talked, she could not stay awake and at times couldn’t talk at all. Nikky eventually tested positive for COVID. Over the course of the last 8 months Nikky has been hospitalized approximately 5 of those months. We nearly lost her in January of 2021. After multiple tests, scans, biopsies, treatments, a surgery and learning to walk again she is on her way to recovery. Nikky will continue to deal with the long term effects of the virus for months to come as she continues chemo and infusions on a daily basis.

Nikky’s medical bills are staggering. Although Nikky is receiving a portion of her income she is not currently able to work and we are unsure when she will

be able to return to work, full time. All the proceeds of this fundraiser will go to medical bills and any unpaid bills due to her being hospitalized.
