Hey everyone-

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart as my dad faces one of the hardest times of his life. This year has been incredibly tough for him, and while he’s always been the first to offer help to others, he’s now in a position where he can no longer avoid asking for it.

As many of you know, he was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and underwent surgery to remove it. He’s still in recovery from that, but before the surgery even took place, he also had knee surgery. If that wasn’t enough, at the same time as all of that, his furnace broke down during winter. With the added stress of everything else, he’s been relying on space heaters—an expense he never planned for—while trying to manage all his medical appointments and work. Though he knows what needs to be done, he hasn’t had the time to fix it.

And just as he was getting back to work, fate dealt him another blow—he broke his nose today and is now at the ER. Between all his medical bills and expenses, he is overwhelmed. He would never ask for help, but as his daughter, I’m stepping forward to ask for him.

My dad is one of the kindest, most selfless people I know. He would give anything to help others, always putting others before himself. Now, he’s the one who needs help, and it’s hard to watch him struggle.
