Our Infertility Story

Our love story started over 10 years ago when we met in college at Central Michigan University. Our story is unique because it shows that love can truly be at first sight. We met on New Year's Eve of 2014 at Wayside (a bar/ club on campus) and we have been together ever since.

So young and not knowing where our future was going to take us, one thing we were certain about was that we were committed to one another and wanted to spend forever together. We often day dreamt about having kids and a family of our own.

Almost 2 years ago I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I underwent a surgery to remove a 9 cm endometrioma cyst from my ovary 3 weeks before our wedding.

Once the surgery was completed and I recovered, we went on with our lives as if everything was back to normal. We got married in March of 2023. So eager and excited to have a family, we immediately started trying for a baby.

My endometriosis diagnosis had always been in the back of my mind and after months of trying and nothing happening, I felt in my gut something was wrong.

We had countless appointments with my OBGYN which led her to refer us to a fertility specialist when an ultrasound showed another cyst on my ovary and inflamed/ swollen tubes.

We made an appointment as soon as we were able to with a specialist. After his own assessment, he confirmed it would be impossible for us to conceive in this lifetime as my tubes were indeed damaged from my now stage 4 (worst stage) endometriosis diagnosis. IVF is our only chance at having a baby... Our hearts were shattered.

Bringing us to our most current reality-which is dealing with infertility day in and day out.

Infertility is a weird thing. You grieve a life you thought you were guaranteed you were going to have. Infertility treatments are without a doubt a financial burden. A cycle of IVF alone can range from 25k- 40k with the dr. appts, ultrasounds, medications, the procedure itself, and the list literally goes on and on.

All of this to say- it has all caught up to us. It meaning the stress, the emotional, mental, physical, and financial toll.

With the financial burden our current situation has left us in, we felt we needed to reach out to family, friends, our community. If you find it in your heart to donate to our IVF fundraiser, we would be forever grateful. We will be using any money collected towards the procedure cost itself, medications, anesthesia costs, and a list of things that pertain to the IVF process in it's entirety. Insurance doesn't cover the cost of any infertility treatments.

If you are not able to donate, we completely understand, however we do believe in the power of prayer and ask if you keep us in your prayers during this difficult time and that we come out of this with our miracle baby. Our biggest dream is to become parents one day and raise a family with one another. We have so much love to give. Thank you for reading our story.

We will be posting updates along the journey if you would like to follow along.

With love,
Nikki and Lance
