Hi, I’m Nikki, a 45-year-old single mom to an amazing 7-year-old boy. I have recently separated from my husband and recently been diagnosed with stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma breast cancer. I am currently in appointments and tests, but will have my final treatment plan this week. I’m not sure if I will be having chemo, then surgery, then radiation…or surgery first with chemo/radiation after or what exactly as of now.

I went from a two-income household to one and am struggling right now. The added medical expenses on top of doing it all on my own now is stressing me out so bad I find it hard to be able to just focus on my health because I’m so worried about everything else life is throwing at me! When I do finally have my surgery, which will be a double mastectomy, my benefits at work will only pay a percentage of my pay and I will still have to pay insurance out of pocket.
