Hello, my name is Erin Krupke and I'm starting this GoFundMe for my sister, Nikki Green.

We are starting this GoFundMe as Nikki's metastatic breast cancer has regrettably continued to show signs of growth and spreading. Because of this unfortunate reality, Nikki's need for support, and the level of support needed, are continuing to rise.

With funds raised by this GoFundMe, Nikki will hopefully be able to access a second opinion and possibly clinical trials. (These won't be covered by insurance, as her doctor is stating her cancer is incurable at this time.) Funds may also afford her the ability to travel to get treatments that are available, as well as to afford alternative treatment methods. Hopefully, this will allow her to thrive, heal, and live a long and cancer-free life.

The backstory:

Some of you may be familiar with our family and may know that Nikki is a 2x cancer survivor already! She had breast cancer the first time when she was just 29 years old! More recently, in 2022, she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer and underwent a second mastectomy, radiation, chemo, and immunotherapies for well over the course of 2 years. She had a few clear scans after those treatments, but devastatingly was informed her triple-negative breast cancer had returned and metastasized to her lungs and some lymph nodes.

Following this diagnosis, Nikki underwent more immunotherapy and 6+ months of chemotherapy that was exceedingly hard on her body and mind. In the past couple of months, this was followed by 20 radiation treatments over a 4-week period for the nodules in her lungs. The doctor was confident this would shrink and even eliminate some of her bigger spots of cancer. Unfortunately, her most recent scans tell a different outcome.

Nikki's current doctor has told her that her cancer has continued to spread and grow and he is out of options for her. They will try to get a chemo pill approved, but it's possibly not going to be approved as they are looking at a prolonging of life rather than a curing of the disease. So insurance can be shitty in these cases. This chemo pill would be to slow the spread of the cancer at most. He also wanted to recommend immunotherapy again for her, but her insurance denied that as well.

Her doctor has given Nikki less than a year to live at this time.

We are not in agreement with this prognosis, nor do we accept this, and she will be continuing to seek alternative treatments and possible clinical trials that will give her quality of life and the longevity she deserves.

As you can imagine, this has been the hardest of news for our family, and most of all, for Nikki. We are here to support and try our best to help Nikki in any way we can. Unfortunately, we are all just barely scraping by financially. Nikki only receives SSI as she has been very ill for many years and unable to work.

I'm hoping, by starting this GoFundMe, to alleviate some of the financial burdens for Nikki so she can focus on her health. Any amount you could donate adds up! Even $5 can help so much if you are able!

Nikki has always been a fighter and full of life. She is a beautiful, strong, funny, and loving mom, aunt, sister, niece, daughter, and grandma! She is very loved and cared about. She is courageous and has been through so much in her life.
