We’re writing this in a moment of crisis. Our puppy Nike accidentally got into a bottle of ibuprofen and ingested over 3,000 mg — a life-threatening amount for a dog his size.

Since then, Nike has been vomiting repeatedly, even unable to keep down water. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where he needs IV fluids, medications to protect his kidneys and stomach, and constant monitoring. The situation is serious — but with fast, aggressive treatment, Nike has a real chance to survive.

The emergency care he needs is expensive, and we’re facing veterinary bills that could reach several thousand dollars. This is due to the potentially permanent irreversible damage he is facing which, the doctors told us, comes in 3 stages. 

One, His gastrointestinal track will begin to develop ulcers resulting in internal bleeding. Two, his kidneys will start to fail. Three, he could suffer from life long neurological damage if we don’t act fast to counteract the ibuprofen.

We’re doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone.
